Privacy Policy

Reef System provides Reef Control, an app for setting up, monitoring, and operating compatible reef-aquarium equipment. This policy explains the information used to provide the app.

Information we collect

• Account information: email address, display name, authentication provider identifiers, and account security records.
• Preferences: time zone and temperature-unit selections.
• Device information: identifiers, ownership records, firmware versions, connection status, and diagnostic information for Reef System equipment associated with an account.
• Aquarium information: measurements, test history, schedules, commands, and acknowledgements when cloud features are enabled.

How we use information

We use information only to authenticate accounts, provide app and device functionality, synchronize owner-authorized data, secure device commands, troubleshoot reliability, and respond to support requests. We do not sell personal information, serve third-party advertising, or use app data to track people across other companies' apps or websites.

Bluetooth and local operation

Reef Control uses Bluetooth to discover and securely communicate with nearby Reef System equipment. Device credentials are protected by the operating system's secure storage. Local safety interlocks and offline device operation remain authoritative.

Service providers

We use infrastructure providers, including Supabase for authentication and database services and Vercel for application hosting. Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In are available when selected by the user. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments.

Retention and deletion

We retain account information while an account is active and as needed to operate and secure the service. Users can permanently delete their account and associated profile data from Profile → Delete account in Reef Control. Information that must be retained for security, fraud prevention, or legal obligations may be kept only as required.

Security

We use encrypted network transport, owner-scoped database access controls, secure local credential storage, and authenticated device commands. No system can guarantee absolute security, but we design Reef Control to minimize collection and restrict access.

Children

Reef Control is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
